Since 1975, the Rotary Club of Barbados has been paying tribute to and celebrating our senior citizens with an annual Christmas Tea Party.
This event creates an opportunity to share the joy of Christmas and to express appreciation to our seniors for their contribution to nation building, for sharing their resilience, wisdom, and the enduring spirit that defines their generation.

Under the distinguished patronage of Her Excellency Dame Sandra Mason, President of Barbados, the Club President, Ermine Darroux-Francis and members of our Club, welcomed over 60 residents from various Senior Citizens homes across the island.  After a 3-year hiatus, due to the pandemic, the event was truly a heartwarming experience! Our guests were treated to refreshments, gifts, and entertainment.  They showed immense gratitude and appreciation for the event and the care provided by our members.

Although the pandemic prevented the club from regular face-to-face interactions, we continued to care for our Senior Citizens by creating new ways to connect with them. Over the last 3 years, our club, led by the Senior Citizens Committee continued to support our Senior Citizens by distributing hampers and gift baskets to the various homes.  Our members also formed a choir along with Rotarian musicians, and gathered outside the homes to play and sing some beautiful Christmas carols in the hope of bringing joy to the residents.

The President of Barbados, Her Excellency, Dame Sandra Mason, expressed her appreciation for the event and was pleased to return to the annual tradition adding a special sparkle to our holiday festivities.

The Club President ended the evening with well wishes for the holiday season, a new year of health and happiness, and a toast to our senior citizens who have been builders of our nation Barbados. We wished them the very best for the Christmas season, and a bright and prosperous new year.
