Members of the Rotary Club of Barbados met with the management, staff, EarlyAct Helping Hands Executive and students of Wills Primary School on March 31st, 2023 to mark the handover of this year’s club-sponsored initiatives.
Past President Paul Ashby was on hand for an animated and interactive speech which outlined the following projects:
Sustainable Garden - funded through a grant which was started under Past President Paul Ashby’s year, this garden seeks to arm the children with the resources and hands-on experience of planting, caring for and reaping the rewards of a sustainable garden. This garden has been equipped with a dedicated tank allowing for easy watering.
Movement Trail - under the club’s Childhood Obesity initiative, 8 signs were created to be staked into the ground forming an exercise trail for the children to follow during playtime, free time or during their formal PE classes. The brightly worded signs each represent a different exercise movement and can be followed in a circuit for the fun and enjoyment kids of all ages.
Peace Board - Using a whiteboard and multicolored pens, the children are encouraged to leave their heartfelt peace notes to share with all.
Environmental - reading space - Two benches made by Past President Peter Williams specifically for the EarlyAct clubs were presented to the school along with a tree and plants which will, in the future, provide shade and make for a peaceful reading area for the children.
The club is thankful for the enthusiasm and dedication of the EarlyAct Helping Hands Club and we can’t wait to see these initiatives in action!
