Rotarians and Rotaractors descended on the Barbados Polo Club at Holders, St James for the Rotary Club of Barbados’ inaugural RotaGames on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Participating companies for the games included Emera Caribbean, Barbados Lights & Power Co Ltd, Cave Shepherd Group of companies and our very own Rotaract Club of Barbados.
The event was a new fund raising initiative by our club, aimed at promoting wellness and building corporate team spirit, while at the same time raising funds for community projects in the areas of health, the environment, culture, and sports. Funds raised from the event will help provide much needed equipment for the QEH Blood Centre.
Our Partners for the event were: the Diabetes Association of Barbados, Naniki Barbados Ozone Therapy, Sandy Crest Medical Centre, Beyond Limits and the Barbados Polo Club. The competitive games consisted of Cross Fit, Soft Ball, Giant Checkers, Football, Archery and Jenga. There were fun activities for the children which included face painting and horse back riding in the beautiful setting at Holders. The event was open to the public at no cost. There was food and drink on sale and sweet music was provided by our DJ.
RotaGames was a success in raising awareness of health and wellness as well as fellowship and family fun. We are confident that this event will expand and we look forward to hosting RotaGames in 2020.
