Carols by Candlelight 2011

Sunday, December 11th, 2011 was the 16th staging of the annual “Carols by Candlelight” which was held at Ilaro Court with the kind permission of the Prime Minister the Hon Freundel Stuart QC MP.  This was a particularly special occasion, “Carols By Candlelight” falling as it did within our 50th Anniversary Celebrations, and from all reports was a resounding success.

The weather co-operated with us, the moon cast its glow upon proceedings as thousands of families covered the Ilaro Court hillside with their flickering candles. There was plenty of light from stage side and the crowd was thrilled by performances from a series of highly popular local favorites such as Red Plastic Bag, Alison Hinds, Derek Fields & the Angels, and the internationally famous Sir Cliff Richard who certainly did not disappoint his many fans in the audience. Other artistes adding to the excellent programme were Alex Santoriello, Paula Hinds, The Royal Diadems, the Mustard Seed Kids, Ziggy Walcott, Jennifer Walker and the Carols by Candlelight Band.

 

The occasion also saw the club collecting in excess of 2000 toys for distribution to children.
